Evidence-based research proposals on Education, Water, and Food Security sought by the United States AID (USAID) agency


Researchers working in US institutions and in East African countries, preferably working collaboratively, are invited to submit research Concept Notes to the USAID proposing innovative research that can be applied in practice focused on:

  • Basic Education (specifically social and emotional skills);
  • Food Security (specifically youth engagement in agriculture); and
  • Water Security (specifically data and forecasting for water resources)

The target areas are three East African countries: Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda. The Basic Education program is limited to Kenya and Uganda only.

The objective of this solicitation is to catalyze evidence-based research that can be readily translated into useful policies, products, and practices that better address international development goals, through participatory problem identification that engages researchers and development implementers.
