Musicians across genres from bolero to technobrega perform and discuss the power of music in Brazilian culture and the world. The documentary depicts the religions, cultures and traditions of various communities along the Amazon River in northeastern Brazil!

Amazonia Groove, acclaimed by the Brazilian critics, won the prestigious international ZEISS Cinematography Award for best cinematography at the SXSW in 2019. This event is part of MOSTRA X, the largest annual Brazilian Film Festival in the Midwest (www.mostrafilmfestival.org). The event’s motto is “Brazilian Films with Social Conscience,” and it has as its venues many educational and cultural institutions in Chicago, Indianapolis, Columbus, and West Lafayette.
At Purdue, the event is sponsored by the School of Languages and Cultures, the Department of Spanish and Portuguese, and the Latino Cultural Center. Additional support from the Rueff School of Design, Art, and Performance.
